When you set a goal to get healthy, losing the drive you need to accomplish it can be easy. There are days that you’re too tired to go to the gym or too busy to prep a balanced meal. How do you keep yourself going when life gets in the way? What motivated you to improve your health?
Don’t give up just yet if you resolved to take better care of your mind and body in 2022. Here’s how you can stay motivated to reach your health goals for this year.
Consistent Bedtime
A lot of your self-motivation stems from your level of energy. Without the strength to get things done, there’s no way you’ll find it within yourself to reach your goals. Keeping a consistent bedtime and wake-up time for the majority of the week is a great way to have steadier energy during the day.Â
To fall asleep consistently, you’ll also need to have a night routine that helps you relax every night. Take a nice bubble bath and light a few candles to let your body know that the day’s stresses are now over. Make sure to give yourself 30 minutes or more to unwind so that you can fit in a bit of self-care before you crash.
Manageable Schedule
It’s best to keep a schedule that won’t burn you out before you can see the results of all your hard work. Trying to meet all of life’s demands on top of all of your potential goals might not be a sustainable way to spend your days.Â
You may need to hit the gym 3 days a week instead of 5. It might be necessary to only spend the weekends on your favorite hobby instead of the weeknights. Whatever the case, be sure that you can work toward your goals without working yourself to death.
Keep The End In Mind
Take some time to visualize what it is you’re working toward. By keeping the end results in mind, you’ll be able to increase your motivation to keep at it. What is it that you’re so passionately putting all of your energy toward?
Give yourself a reminder of the resolutions that you made. Write out an encouraging note to yourself that will lift your spirits when you’re not really feeling it. Take pictures of your progress to help remind you that all of the toil is worthwhile- anything to help you remember why you’re doing the things you do.Â
